Los Angeles, CA – April 7, 2016 – In partnership with the Investment Facilitation Centre (IFC), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Digicel Haiti, ACTIVE Hand the Association Haitienne pour le Developement des Technologies de L'Information et de la Communication (AHTIC), the Avasant Foundation celebrated the culmination of its skill development training program in Port Au Prince, Haiti on April 2nd, 2016. Graduating students were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements and are well on their way to pursuing sustainable career opportunities in the growing ICT and BPO industry.
This four-week immersive program educated thirty students ages 18 to 24 on a range of core business and technology processes. Thetraining focused on social, customer, and technology skills for entry-level career opportunities in the ICT and BPO industry in Haiti. Experienced trainers and industry experts prepared the students through classroom training, role-play and interviews. The students also received first-hand experience with contact center operations through site visits to the officesof Digiceland BIMA.

As an emerging multilingual BPO destination with over 55% of the population between 15-54 years, Haiti will benefit tremendously from investments in this industry. The Foundation’s efforts in Haiti represent the Digital Youth Employment Initiative’s second successful skill development program. Student JW Guideon said, “After four weeks of training I have acquired so many skills and discovered my passion for customer service. Working with customers is going to be a daily challenge but I am now prepared for this challenge.”
